I’ve been listening to this mixtape on and off since the summer, and it’s definitely something that grows on you very quickly. Â I’ve been a big fan of the Major Lazer project since I heard their single “Hold the Line” back in 2009. Â YouTube suggested I listen to this mixtape after listening to some songs from the latest Major Lazer EP (Apocalypse Soon), and I was very glad it did. Â While I had heard of Jesse Royal before hearing this mixtape, this was the first time I had listened to a body of his work so to speak. Â The reason I’m posting about it now is that it was recently rated as the #1 reggae mixtape of 2014 by LargeUp.com and rightly so I believe. Â On my blog, I normally highlight singles, because I don’t really have time to do long write ups for albums or mixtapes, but this achievement is worthy of sharing, so just do yourself a favour and listen to it! Â Walshy Fire (of Major Lazer) was at the Protoje concert in Miami, so clearly he is a fan of the artists involved in the Reggae Revival, so who knows, maybe we will have a Protoje Mixtape in 2015 🙂
