Jesse Royal – Ghetto Girl

Jesse Royal Ghetto Girl Inner Circle Tenement Yard Riddim

Back in January, Chronixx released a track with the Inner Circle band called “News Carryin’ Dread” which was featured on TickuTalk here.  The track was on the newly created “Tenement Yard” riddim, which was an update of the riddim used in the Jacob Miller classic of the same name.  Now it’s Jesse Royal’s turn to bless this riddim with a track he released yesterday called “Ghetto Girl”.

It’s an unabashed love song, which Jesse easily pulls off with his silky smooth vocals.  I think he does a great job channeling his inner Jacob Miller on this track, even going so far as to mimic Jacob’s signature vibrato at the end of the chorus.  Overall a nice feel good track, which works well with this laid back riddim.  I’d like to give thanks to the one called El Puru for allowing me to use one of his photos as the featured image for this blog entry.  It’s a great black and white shot of Jesse in concert at the 930 Club in Washington D.C. back in February.  For those of you on Instagram, you can follow him at @himagesphoto or “like” his Facebook page here.
